To Everyone Who Protested at the Saratoga Race Track on Saturday, July 25, 2015:
This is for all of you who protested at the track yesterday, along with those of you who were unable to make it. I just wanted to share with you some of my observations. For people holding a plain sign, I don’t think too many comments were made to you. I made up my own sign that showed two dead horses — many people walked over to me and said:
- “You ruined my day.”
- “I don’t want my kids to see that.”
- “You’re being cruel to people by showing those pictures.”
- “I didn’t know that these horses go to slaughter.”
- “What would we do with them all if we don’t race them?”
Of course, I had answers for them all.
My point is – we need more posters with pictures. A picture says a thousand words and gets attention.
We had about 25 protesters. Maybe the next time we’ll have 100.
